PARTS AND PAINT CHOICES
Understand the proposed parts and how the finish is matched to the vehicle.
What type of parts will be used?
There are three broad choices: new original manufacturer (OEM) parts, aftermarket equivalents, and used original parts, and your policy often has something to say about which of them it will pay for. Each has a place: a used original panel can be an excellent choice on an older vehicle, while a safety-critical or structural component generally should not be a compromise, and that is where we push for OEM parts. We tell you what is being proposed and why, with your vehicle's long-term reliability in mind, and if we think a choice is wrong for your vehicle we will say so before it is ordered.
Will the paint match?
Yes, and the way we get there is worth understanding. The code on your door jamb describes the vehicle as it left the factory, which may be many years and a lot of sun ago, so matching to the code alone is how you end up with a repair you can see from across the parking lot. We custom-tint to the vehicle as it is today, spray out a test card and check it against your panel first, then blend the new color outward into the neighboring panels so the transition falls where the eye cannot find it.
PREFER TO TALK IT THROUGH?
Tell us what happened and what the vehicle is doing. We will help you choose the next step.
